MARY PATERNI joined Horty, Springer & Mattern, P.C. in 2019 and is an associate attorney in the firm. Mary regularly advises clients on a broad range of health care topics, with an emphasis on corporate, regulatory, transactional, and medical staff matters. She has also served as trial and appellate counsel in contract, medical staff, and peer review litigation.
In addition to her legal work, Mary frequently hosts audio conferences and provides onsite education to hospitals and health systems on topics relating to health law and medical staff issues. Currently, Mary serves as a faculty member for HortySpringer’s Credentialing for Excellence national seminar.
Mary earned her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she received the school’s Certificate in Health Law with a focus in health care compliance and fraud and abuse. She was a teaching assistant for legal writing and a research assistant for the school’s health care compliance certificate program. Mary is also a recipient of the William H. Eckert Award for superior writing. Upon graduating, Mary served as the secretary of the Health Law Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
Outside of work, you can find Mary hiking in the woods with her husband and their beloved dog.
