HHS Amends Policies Regarding Vaccine Administration

The Department of Health and Human Services has issued an amendment to allow additional categories of qualified individuals to prescribe, dispense, and administer COVID-19 vaccines.  These changes allow certain kinds of practitioners with expired licenses to administer the vaccines and will permit recently retired physicians and nurses to join the vaccination workforce.  The Acting Secretary believes that these steps are urgently needed to expand the pool of available COVID-19 vaccinators.  The declaration is intended to preempt state law.  To review the declaration, click here.

OIG Updates Work Plan

The Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (“OIG”) has recently added items to its online, public-facing work plan.  Among other things, the work plan includes announcements relating to COVID-19 testing contract audits and to hospital experiences responding to the pandemic.  For more information, click here.
