University Health Services, Inc. v. Long,
No. S01A1658 (Ga. Mar. 11, 2002).
The Supreme Court of Georgia held that courts must defer to the medical judgment of hospital governing bodies when making medical staff decisions. Accordingly, the court overturned an injunction issued by the trial court which enjoined the summary suspension of a physician's clinical privileges and allowed the physician to practice pending the outcome of the hospital's internal review process.
